| abstractText | Full text of MNL contrubiton: An additional 10 pure Perus were examined by Dr. E.P. Evans and his team (Oxford), and C.V. Beechey (Harwell), on the basis of 200 cells per mouse. Five more animals with status 1 features were identified. This brings the total of Peru and 50% Peru mice to 78, and the number of mice with status 1 cells to 7. Thus 10% is a working expectation. It represents a great increase over the frequency found in wild populations: compare with 0.2% in Skokholm mice (Searle, Berry and Beechey, Mutation Research 9, 137-140, 1970). A set of 5 selection lines has been set up, with mice drawn from sites 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10, in which 100 cells per mouse are being examined. In four generations there has been a significant increase in the percentage of animals with abnormal cells, an insignificant increase in the percentage of affected cells in mice with at least one status 1-3 event, but no increase in the incidence of animals with status 1 events. It is hoped to increase the small scale of this experiment. (Wallace) |
