| abstractText | Full text of Mouse Genome contribution: Research News: 3. Opaque eyes mutant in SELH/Bc. A sixth Mendelian recessive mutation has been recovered from our SELH mice. In 1989-90, a sib breeding pair produced 3 offspring among 11 examined that as adults were noted to have large eyes with white centres, apparently due to lens rupture. Crosses between affected and non-sib normal SELH mice produced 15 normal F1's. The F2 from these contained 22 affected among 80 (28%). The new trait therefore appears to be a Mendelian recessive. A subline comprised of affected breeding pairs appears to breed true, with 98% of 47 progeny clearly affected. |
