Alveolar hemorrhage is characterized by hemoptysis, shortness of breath, alveolar infiltrates on chest radiograph, and various degrees of anaemia. Following a bleeding episode, the alveolar macrophages convert the hemoglobin's iron into hemosiderin within 36-72h. |
