Protein Coding Gene : Rad23b RAD23 homolog B, nucleotide excision repair protein

Primary Identifier  MGI:105128 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  4 NCBI Gene Number  19359
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity and RNA polymerase II-specific DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity. Acts upstream of or within DNA damage response; cellular response to interleukin-7; and spermatogenesis. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in central nervous system; genitourinary system; liver; and retina nuclear layer. Orthologous to human RAD23B (RAD23 homolog B, nucleotide excision repair protein).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a disruption in this gene usually die around the time of birth. Those that survive show growth retardation, eye, reproductive, behavioral, and digestive system abnormalities. They usually die within 1 year of birth. [provided by MGI curators]
