Protein Coding Gene : Stx4a syntaxin 4A (placental)

Primary Identifier  MGI:893577 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  20909
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables SNARE binding activity. Involved in SNARE complex assembly and regulation of postsynaptic membrane neurotransmitter receptor levels. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to type II interferon. Located in several cellular components, including basolateral plasma membrane; lateral loop; and myelin sheath adaxonal region. Part of SNARE complex. Is active in Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse; glutamatergic synapse; and postsynapse. Is expressed in central nervous system; metanephros; and retina. Orthologous to human STX4 (syntaxin 4).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a targeted null allele die in early embyonic stages. Heterozygous mice exhibit abnormalities in glucose metabolism. [provided by MGI curators]
