Protein Coding Gene : Sorbs2 sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:1924574 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  8 NCBI Gene Number  234214
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables protein domain specific binding activity. Acts upstream of or within Notch signaling pathway; acetylcholine receptor signaling pathway; and regulation of skeletal muscle acetylcholine-gated channel clustering. Located in plasma membrane and synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; cardiovascular system; cranium; foot bone; and foregut. Orthologous to human SORBS2 (sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit partial postnatal lethality, reduced dendritic complexity, decreased excitatory synaptic transmission in dentate gyrus granule cells, a reduced acoustic startle response, and impaired long-term object recognition memory and contextual fear memory.
