Primary Identifier | MGI:1913865 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 1 | NCBI Gene Number | 66615 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables cysteine-type peptidase activity. Involved in several processes, including autophagosome assembly; otolith mineralization completed early in development; and protein delipidation. Located in cytoplasm. Is expressed in central nervous system; genitourinary system; gut; lymph node; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human ATG4B (autophagy related 4B cysteine peptidase). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a gene trap allele exhibit decreased autophagy, impaired swimming, circling, head tilting, and abnormal utricle, saccular, and otolith morphology. Mice homozygous for another gene trap allele exhibit partial preweaning lethality and impaired motor coordination and learning. [provided by MGI curators] |
