Primary Identifier | MGI:107361 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 1 | NCBI Gene Number | 13034 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables aspartic-type endopeptidase activity and identical protein binding activity. Involved in antigen processing and presentation of exogenous peptide antigen via MHC class II. Located in endosome. Is expressed in several structures, including cranial ganglion; foregut; metanephros; nasal cavity epithelium; and tooth. Used to study atopic dermatitis. Orthologous to human CTSE (cathepsin E). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a targeted mutation are viable and fertile, but develop skin lesions on the face, ears, neck and dorsal skin which are similar to those seen in human atopic dermatitis.
