Protein Coding Gene : Rangrf RAN guanine nucleotide release factor

Primary Identifier  MGI:1889073 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  57785
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables several functions, including guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; small GTPase binding activity; and transmembrane transporter binding activity. Involved in regulation of membrane depolarization and regulation of sodium ion transmembrane transporter activity. Located in intercalated disc and nucleoplasm. Is expressed in central nervous system; retina; retina ganglion cell layer; retina inner nuclear layer; and retina outer nuclear layer. Orthologous to human RANGRF (RAN guanine nucleotide release factor).
PHENOTYPE: Mice with a knock-out allele exhibit prolonged QRS duration, left ventricle dysfunction and increased risk of isoproterenol-induced arrhythmias and sudden death. Hearts show abnormal sarcomeres and mitochondria, with increased level of ATP supply. [provided by MGI curators]
