Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables single-stranded DNA 5'-3' DNA exonuclease activity. Involved in regulation of cytokine production involved in inflammatory response. Acts upstream of or within establishment of localization in cell; hematopoietic progenitor cell differentiation; and phagocytosis. Located in several cellular components, including cytoplasmic vesicle; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; and trans-Golgi network membrane. Is expressed in brain and hemolymphoid system. Used to study systemic lupus erythematosus. Orthologous to human PLD4 (phospholipase D family member 4). PHENOTYPE: A spontaneous mutation that introduces a premature stop codon results in smaller body size and thin fur. KO leads to an enlarged spleen and an altered immune response. The enzyme digests unphosphorylated 5' ends of single-stranded ODNs without secondary structure in endolysosomes. [provided by MGI curators] |
