Protein Coding Gene : Mxd3 Max dimerization protein 3

Primary Identifier  MGI:104987 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  13 NCBI Gene Number  17121
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Contributes to DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II transcription regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Part of RNA polymerase II transcription regulator complex. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; limb mesenchyme; retina; and thymus. Orthologous to human MXD3 (MAX dimerization protein 3).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for disruptions in this gene have an essentially normal phenotype. The show an increased sensitivity to gamma irradiation. [provided by MGI curators]
