Primary Identifier | MGI:98936 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 16 | NCBI Gene Number | 22362 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables signaling receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including B cell homeostasis; B cell proliferation; and regulation of cell size. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Is expressed in bone marrow; liver; and spleen. Orthologous to human VPREB1 (V-set pre-B cell surrogate light chain 1). PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mutants have fewer cells with functional pre-B cell receptors. Double knockouts homozygous for null mutations at Vpreb1 and Vpreb2 show impaired B-cell development. Fewer B-cells are found in bone marrow, spleen and peritoneum. [provided by MGI curators] |
