Primary Identifier | MGI:2658978 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 16 | NCBI Gene Number | 208154 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables signaling receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within immune response-regulating cell surface receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of B cell proliferation; and negative regulation of alpha-beta T cell proliferation. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Is expressed in adipose tissue; chondrocranium; femur; lung; and spleen. Orthologous to human BTLA (B and T lymphocyte associated). PHENOTYPE: Targeted inactivation of this gene leads to increased T cell activation. Homozygotes for a null allele show altered peripheral T cell anergy. Homozygotes for a different null allele show enhanced specific antibody responses, increased susceptibility to EAE, and prolonged allograft survival. [provided by MGI curators] |
