Protein Coding Gene : Paxbp1 PAX3 and PAX7 binding protein 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1914617 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  16 NCBI Gene Number  67367
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables histone methyltransferase binding activity. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of myoblast proliferation; positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; and regulation of skeletal muscle satellite cell proliferation. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; genitourinary system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human PAXBP1 (PAX3 and PAX7 binding protein 1).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous KO in muscle cells is embryonic lethal. Inducible homozygous KO in adult muscle stem cells affects mitochondrial biogenesis in activated stem cells, blocking their reentry into the cell cycle upon activation, resulting in defective muscle regeneration after injury.
