Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables type I interferon receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within immature T cell proliferation in thymus and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including genitourinary system; gut; hemolymphoid system; liver; and nervous system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hepatitis B and immunodeficiency 45. Orthologous to human IFNAR2 (interferon alpha and beta receptor subunit 2). PHENOTYPE: Mice with mutations of this gene have defects in immune responses involving, variously, NK cells, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and B cells in response to induced and transplanted tumors, viruses, and double stranded DNA. These defects include diminished secretion of type I and type II interferons. [provided by MGI curators] |
