PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a transgene insertion that inactivates this gene exhibit impaired fertilization and male infertility. Mice homozygous for a null allele show male infertility due to inability of spermatozoa to fuse with the oocyte membrane. [provided by MGI curators]
