Protein Coding Gene : Med20 mediator complex subunit 20

Primary Identifier  MGI:1929648 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  17 NCBI Gene Number  56771
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Predicted to enable transcription coactivator activity. Predicted to contribute to ubiquitin protein ligase activity. Acts upstream of or within skeletal muscle cell differentiation. Part of mediator complex. Is expressed in several structures, including early conceptus; eye; limb mesenchyme; oocyte; and tongue. Orthologous to human MED20 (mediator complex subunit 20).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show pre-implantation lethality associated with failure of embryo implantation and ectopic expression of an epiblast marker in the trophectoderm, indicating defects in trophoblast specification. Cultured blastocysts fail to hatch from the zona pellucida with apparent cell death and form atypical outgrowth colonies with no trophectoderm, primitive endoderm or epiblast cells.
