Primary Identifier | MGI:2443075 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 19 | NCBI Gene Number | 208922 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables nucleic acid binding activity. Involved in several processes, including long-term memory; positive regulation of long-term synaptic potentiation; and regulation of translation. Located in several cellular components, including apical dendrite; nucleus; and synapse. Is active in glutamatergic synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including early conceptus; metanephros; neocortex; and oocyte. Orthologous to human CPEB3 (cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 3). PHENOTYPE: Nullizygous mice show female subfertility with impaired ovarian folliculogenesis and premature ovarian failure. Homozygotes for a null allele show increased anxiety, enhanced contextual conditioning behavior and consolidated spatial memory, hypolocomotion, and abnormal hippocampus pyramidal cells.
