Primary Identifier | MGI:105091 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 3 | NCBI Gene Number | 13559 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables DNA-binding transcription factor activity. Acts upstream of or within animal organ morphogenesis and regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; early conceptus; eye; and genitourinary system. Used to study hydrocephalus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in prostate carcinoma. Orthologous to human E2F5 (E2F transcription factor 5). PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice develop non-obstructive hydrocephalus, ruffled coats, ataxic gait, and dehydration after weaning and die prematurely at an average age of 6 weeks. They exhibit dilated ventricles and cerebral cortex atrophy. [provided by MGI curators] |
