Protein Coding Gene : Agbl4 ATP/GTP binding protein-like 4

Primary Identifier  MGI:1918244 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  4 NCBI Gene Number  78933
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables metallocarboxypeptidase activity and tubulin binding activity. Involved in C-terminal protein deglutamylation; defense response to virus; and protein side chain deglutamylation. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including axonal transport of mitochondrion; positive regulation of ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; and regulation of blastocyst development. Located in cytosol. Is expressed in brain; early embryo; nose; and trigeminal ganglion. Orthologous to human AGBL4 (AGBL carboxypeptidase 4).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit abnormal platelet morphology and physiology, impaired megakaryopoiesis, increased spleen weight and increased susceptibility to HSV or VACV infection. [provided by MGI curators]
