Primary Identifier | MGI:109604 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 4 | NCBI Gene Number | 12795 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables protein serine/threonine kinase activity. Involved in DNA damage response; mitotic G1/S transition checkpoint signaling; and negative regulation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B signal transduction. Located in chromatin. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; pancreas tip epithelium; retina; and upper jaw. Orthologous to human PLK3 (polo like kinase 3). PHENOTYPE: Aged mice homozygous for a null allele develop tumors in various organs at an accelerated rate while mouse embryonic fibroblasts are hypersensitive to the induction of HIF-1alpha under hypoxic conditions or by nickel and cobalt ion treatments. Homozygotes for another null allele are overtly normal. [provided by MGI curators] |
