Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific. Involved in memory; positive regulation of dendritic spine development; and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including nervous system; olfactory epithelium; renal cortex; stomach; and thymus. Orthologous to human FOXO6 (forkhead box O6). PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a null allele show defective memory consolidation with impaired neuronal synchronization and altered dendritic spine morphology. Homozygotes for another null allele show attenuated gluconeogenesis, improved glucose tolerance and increased insulin sensitivity after high fat feeding. [provided by MGI curators] |
