Protein Coding Gene : Nxph1 neurexophilin 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:107492 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  6 NCBI Gene Number  18231
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables signaling receptor binding activity. Involved in modulation of chemical synaptic transmission. Is active in GABA-ergic synapse; glutamatergic synapse; and synaptic cleft. Is expressed in brain; metanephros; and spinal cord mantle layer. Orthologous to human NXPH1 (neurexophilin 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a targeted mutation show no obvious morbidity, premature mortality, or anatomical defects. However, males exhibit sterility and testis abnormalities probably because homologous recombination results in co-insertion of the 5' part of the HSV-TK cassette into the targeted locus.
