Primary Identifier | MGI:1861232 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 6 | NCBI Gene Number | 56619 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables glycolipid binding activity and pattern recognition receptor activity. Involved in antifungal innate immune response and positive regulation of cytokine production. Acts upstream of or within Fc-gamma receptor signaling pathway; T cell differentiation involved in immune response; and defense response to bacterium. Is active in phagocytic vesicle membrane and plasma membrane. Orthologous to human CLEC4E (C-type lectin domain family 4 member E). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null mutation exhibit reduced cytokine (TNF) production after challenge with C. albicans and are more susceptible to systemic candidiasis. The majority of homozygotes also display histological evidence of abnormal heart valves. [provided by MGI curators] |
