Primary Identifier | MGI:2685008 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 7 | NCBI Gene Number | 233020 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables histone kinase activity. Acts upstream of or within peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; protein autophosphorylation; and regulation of signal transduction by p53 class mediator. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in alimentary system; brain; and genitourinary system. Orthologous to human HIPK4 (homeodomain interacting protein kinase 4). PHENOTYPE: Male mice homozygous for a null allele are sterile and exhibit spermatogenic defects characteristic of oligoasthenoteratozoospermia. Sperm are incompetent for oocyte binding and in vitro fertilization and they show head defects associated with dysregulation of the acrosome-acroplaxome complex. [provided by MGI curators] |
