Primary Identifier | MGI:1329019 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 8 | NCBI Gene Number | 13423 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables deoxyribonuclease II activity. Acts upstream of or within DNA catabolic process; enucleate erythrocyte differentiation; and regulation of immune response. Predicted to be located in lysosome. Is expressed in liver; olfactory epithelium; and vibrissa. Used to study rheumatoid arthritis. Orthologous to human DNASE2 (deoxyribonuclease 2, lysosomal). PHENOTYPE: Targeted mutations of this gene result in perinatal death, anemia, and impaired definitive erythropoiesis in the fetal liver. Homozygotes for one null mutation display diaphragm abnormalities and asphyxiation, as well as a specific defect in the phagocytic phase of apoptosis. [provided by MGI curators] |
