Protein Coding Gene : Tmem225 transmembrane protein 225

Primary Identifier  MGI:1922917 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  9 NCBI Gene Number  75667
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables protein phosphatase 1 binding activity and protein phosphatase inhibitor activity. Involved in negative regulation of phosphatase activity. Located in inner acrosomal membrane and outer acrosomal membrane. Orthologous to human TMEM225 (transmembrane protein 225).
PHENOTYPE: Male mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are infertile and exhibit asthenospermia and an abnormal hairpin-loop configuration in cauda sperm flagella associated with impaired glycolysis, decreased ATP levels, high reactive oxygen species levels, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
