Enables ubiquitin ligase complex scaffold activity. Involved in proteasome-mediated ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process and regulation of neuron migration. Acts upstream of with a negative effect on reelin-mediated signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within cerebral cortex radially oriented cell migration; protein ubiquitination; and radial glia guided migration of Purkinje cell. Part of Cul5-RING ubiquitin ligase complex. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; eye; genitourinary system; gut; and limb bud. Orthologous to human CUL5 (cullin 5).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit complete embryonic lethality. Mice heterozygous for a null allele exhibit decreased susceptibility to LPS-induced lung injury. [provided by MGI curators]
