Protein Coding Gene : Rab29 RAB29, member RAS oncogene family

Primary Identifier  MGI:2385107 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  1 NCBI Gene Number  226422
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables GTP binding activity. Involved in cilium assembly and protein localization to ciliary membrane. Acts upstream of or within Golgi organization. Located in Golgi apparatus and vesicle. Orthologous to human RAB29 (RAB29, member RAS oncogene family).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice show enlarged lysosomes in the kidneys and less efficient cycling of the cargo protein CI-M6PR at the trans-Golgi network resulting in trafficking defects and mis-sorting of lysosomal enzymes. [provided by MGI curators]
