| description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 9.1.0) Enables peptide antigen binding activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cellular response to type II interferon; positive regulation of T cell mediated cytotoxicity; and positive regulation of type II interferon production. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Part of MHC class Ib protein complex. Is expressed in several structures, including 1-cell stage conceptus; 2-cell stage conceptus; 4-8 cell stage conceptus; blastocyst-stage conceptus; and morula-stage conceptus. PHENOTYPE: This locus controls a lymphocyte antigen on T- and B-cells of spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow, but not thymus. Antigen is present (a allele) in C57BL/6, C57BL/10, C57L and 129/J; other strains tested are negative (b allele). Expression level is affected by alleles carried at B2m and H2-D1 loci.
