abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 2) Dilute-15. This mutant is an allele at the d-locus. Homozygotes have only slightly diluted coats and are easily distinguishable from dd animals. They develop characteristic behaviour abnormalities, similar to those found in dldl mice, at about 20 days (the larger the animal the earlier the symptoms develop) and if weaned die usually between 3 and 4 weeks. If however they are given wet mash many will live for a considerable time, one male at least surviving long enough to breed. The heterozygotes are similar in colour to the homozygotes dl5dl5 but do not lurch. (Phillips). |
