abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: Sut allelic with un. Short undulated tail (Sut) is now regarded as allelic with Undulated (un) for the following reasons: (1 ) data from test-crosses +SutA/++a x un+a/un+a were: ++a, 159; ++A, 8; +SutA, 2 (died within two weeks after birth); +SutA or +Suta, 5 (died short after birth); (2) the two alive apparent Sut/un compounds were both with short undulated tails and deformed spines, their body weight at the age of 12 days was about 2.5 g while their normal litter-mates weighed about 6.5 g and Sut/+ mice of the same age usually weighed about 5.Og. One of these two compounds died at the age of 12 days and another at the age of 14 days. Therefore it is proposed to call the gene Undulated-short-tail in future with symbol Un<s>.
