abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 3. Blotchy, Blo. Sex-linked dominant. Spontaneous. Heterozygous females have irregular patches of more diluted fur. Expression is occasionally poor at weaning age (animals are sometimes misclassified as wild type) but is complete at adulthood. Hemizygous males, hemizygous females (XO), and homozygous females are light all over (no blotching)--somewhat resembling chc in intensity, usually of small size, and occasionally afflicted with deformed hind legs (hip joint?). Their vibrissae are kinked at birth but straight by the time of weaning. Viability and fertility of heterozygotes are apparently normal. Hemi- and homozygous animals have reduced viability, and many of them are infertile. (L.B. Russell) |
