| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutants: Freckled, proposed symbol Fk, is an autosomal dominant which arose spontaneously in a random bred stock carrying t-alleles. Heterozygotes are variegated with small white or light coloured patches in the coat and whitish pinna hairs. In the young mouse the patches are clearly discrete but with increasing age more and more white hairs appear in the coat generally so that an uneven roan effect is produced. Homozygotes are viable and fertile and a whitish or cream colour, though again uneven. A dominant modifier, provisionally called fawn, (Fw) makes Fk+ animals considerably lighter but has no effect on normal animals. Strain 101/H is FwFw. Freckled is not allelic with a, Va, Mi<wh>, So, W, Sl and is not linked with a, ep, fz, ln, v, T, Mi<wh>, or Fw. (J. Butler and Lyon). |
