abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutations: 1. Angora. Three animals with exceptionally long, soft hair were observed in the first litter of a BALB/cJ pair born 12/16/62. At time of weaning the guard hairs were more than twice the length of the guard hairs in a normal coat; the other hair types were also longer than those in a normal coat. The extra length of the hair is not really evident until mice are about 18 days of age. In adult life the angora mice have a very thick, soft pelt. Breeding tests show that this is a recessive mutation. Angora is suggested as the name, and go is suggested as the symbol for the gene. Breeding Tests: Mating: original pr. +go x +go; +: 7; gogo: 7 Mating: gogo x C3H; +: 13; gogo: 0 Mating: +go x +go (C3HF1); +: 5; gogo: 9 Mating: gogo x +go (C3HF1); +: 2; gogo: 2 Mating: gogo x gogo; +:0; gogo: 13 |
