| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Disoriented. This neuromuscular mutation arose in BALB/cJ in 1963. Tests have shown it is a semi-dominant. Heterozygous animals exhibit a wide range of unusual behavior from a mere hesitation in the walk through heaving motions, to a tendency to attempt a handstand. Most heterozygotes breed well and behavior in any one animal is consistent throughout life. The homozygotes are completely disoriented in motion and position sense and die prior to weaning, probably because of inability to compete with littermates for food. The symbol suggested for this gene is Do. |
