| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Balding (bal). A new recessive autosomal mutation appeared in 1973 in the C57BL/6J strain. At birth affected animals are smaller than their normal litter mates. Prior to weaning hair loss is evident. Later bare patches appear on the tops of their heads and other body areas. This mutant is not allelic with depilated, tufted, plucked, motheaten, matted, furless, frizzy, sparse coat, scant hair, rough coat, fur deficient, hairless, icthyosis, fuzzy and asebia-J.
