abstractText | Research News: 1. New mutants and linkages. a. Deaf waddler (dfw). This recessive mutation (nm808) arose in C3H/HeJ in 1979. The affected mice are deaf, walk with a hesitant and wobbly gait, exhibit head bobbing and both sexes are fertile. Two point backcrosses both in C and R with Miwh give the following RFÕs: in C 22 recombinants in 245 offspring = 9.0 +/- 1.8%, in R 9 recombinants in 119 offspring = 7.6 +/- 2.4%. A three point backcross with Hd (Hd + +/+ Miwh dfw x + + dfw/+ + dfw) in which 207 mice were raised shows the order to be Hd-Miwh-dfw. The combined value for the Miwh-dfw interval from both the two point and three point data (39 recombinants in 571 offspring) is 6.8 +/- 1.1%. Thus the order and the RF values are Hd-14+/-2-Miwh-7+/-l-dfw. (Lane) |
