| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutants: 4 . Cocoa (coa). A new recessive color mutation that arose in C57BL/10J in 1978 has been located on the proximal end of Chr 3. Homozygous coa/coa mice mimic ru and ru-2J mice in color on agouti and nonagouti backgrounds. Offspring from an intercross between coa and ru could not be distinguished as coa +/coa -, + ru/- ru or coa ru/coa ru. Utilizing strain differences between the Car-2 alleles of DBA/2J and C57BL/10J backcross matings produced the following progeny: 36 Car-2ab +, 35 Car-2a coa, 2 Car-2a+, 0 Car-2ab coa (total 73) for an RF of 2.7 +/- 1.9%.
