abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Translocation T(9;13)190Ca occurred originally in a chromosome carrying the crossover-suppressing t-allele t6. A crossover later took place which gave animals with T on the translocation chromosome. A test made to detect whether the t6-lethal factor remained on the translocation chromosome gave the following results: Cross: T tf +/t6 ++ female x T + T190/+ tf + male Offspring: Tailless non-tufted: 3; Brachy tufted: 20; Brachy non-tufted: 3; Normal: 16. Breeding tests showed that the 3 tailless animals did not carry T190 and must have arisen through crossing-over in the male parent. It was therefore concluded that the type T + T190/t6 ++ was lethal, i.e. the T + T190 chromosome does carry the t6-lethal factor. This is relevant to the inability to obtain T190 homozygotes.
