abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 5. Lethargic. Two nervous females were observed in two successive litters from a pair of BALB/cGn in C.P. Dagg's colony in January, 1962. Subsequent matings of the nervous animals and normal sibs have produced additional abnormally behaving animals. They find it very difficult to move forward; make long pauses between any movements, often hunch the back, raise first a front foot and then a hind foot. They may also sit up with front feet contracted for several minutes. Tests show the condition is due to a recessive mutation which has been called lethargic and suggested symbol is lh. This neuromuscular mutant does not, resemble any others reported. The only linkage data available at present shows it is not linked to c or A or b. Both lethargic females and males breed and there appears to be very little early mortality. |
