| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 6. Muscle deficient (mfd). This new mutation occurred in a stock of C57BL/6J-ln fz/++. The mutation is characterized by a marked reduction of muscle mass in the sartorius, vastus lateralis, and rectus femoris and a lesser reduction in forelimb muscles. The mutation is expressed as an autosomal recessive gene and is not allelic with either dy or myd. Histological, histochemical, and serum CPK studies of mutant animals indicate a muscular atrophy secondary to a chronic peripheral neuropathy. (Womack, A. MacPike, and Meier) |
