abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Linkage for the Peru mutant grey-coat. Grey-coat, private symbol gc, appeared within the first three generations of sibmating from Peru mice trapped in sites 1, 2 and 5 (MNL 61, 29, 1979). It is fully viable and penetrant: some males have been sterile but this may be a background effect. It most resembles Va in colour, but an identity test has been done with silver, si, the most similar recessive. This gave 33 normal young. A cross using hammer-toe (chromosome 5), Hm/gc x gcgc, has given: Hm, +: 26; Hm, gc: 6; +,+: 6; +,gc: 22; Total: 60; R.f. = 20%. This makes gc unlikely to be near the centromere. Crosses using Pgm-1 and W are planned. The symbol gc is now 'public'. (Wallace, Ferguson) |
