| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Mutants and Linkages: 6. Opisthotonus (opt). This new recessive lethal mutant occurred in C57BL/Ks-db2J at N3 in 1969 and behaves very much like dilute lethal. Affected mice can be distinguished by about 10 days of age by their loss of balance when standing or moving. Typical behavior pattern of 15-20 day homozygotes consists of falling over on their side, struggling to right themselves, becoming agitated and developing severe opisthotonus. No gross abnormality of the cerebellum has been observed. No homozygote has lived beyond weaning age. Opisthotonus has been located in chromosome 6 (LG XI). A partial backcross with Miwh in which 303 offspring have been raised (165 Miwh +, 106 + +, 2 Miwh opt, 30 + opt) gives an estimated recombination of 9.6%. A 3-point cross (Hd Miwh +/+ + opt x + + +/+ + opt shows the order to be Hd - Miwh - opt. (Lane) |
