abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 1. Dominant megacolon (Dom). A new semidominant mutation producing a variable size white belly spot and white feet and socks arose in a hybrid (B6C3-a/a F1) bouncy (bc) stock in 1980. About 30% of these mutants develop severe megacolon before or shortly after weaning and die. Homozygotes die in utero before 13 days. The cross Dom +/+ Ca X + +/+ + has given 59 recombinants in 304 offspring for an RF of 19%. Another cross Dom +/+ Eh X + +/+ + has given 1 recombinant in 97 offspring for an RF of 1%. This places Dom very close to bt on Chr 15 and presents the possibility of Dom being a dominant allele of bt. Allele tests are in progress. (Lane) |
