Primary Identifier | MGI:1861455 | Allele Type | Spontaneous |
Gene | Ds | Inheritance Mode | Dominant |
Strain of Origin | DA/Hu | Is Recombinase | false |
Is Wild Type | false |
description | The Ds mutation arose spontaneously in the inbred DA/Hu strain at The Jackson Laboratory. Ds disrupts the orderly processes of development. Most homozygotes probably die in utero after implantation and before term (J:13012), but some may possibly be normal and viable (J:15709). Heterozygotes may be normal, may deviate slightly, or may be monstrous individuals with multiple defects (J:13012, J:2436). |
molecularNote | This spontaneous mutation has been mapped to an interval between D14Mit37 and D14Mit88, where an ETn retrotransposon was identified, inserted into intergenic sequence without disruption, between Gata4 and Blk, and is a candidate for causation. |
