molecularNote  Insertion of a neomycin cassette disrupted the gene after the transcription start site and before a translation start site at a Pst I site. Absence of mRNA expression in adipose tissue was shown by Northern blot and RT-PCR in homozygous mice. Immunoblot analysis of adipose tissue showed no detectable protein.
