| molecularNote | A PGK-neo cassette was used to replace exons 7 through the majority of 16. The deleted region encodes the discoidin domain and a portion of the carboxypeptidase-like domain. Northern and Western analyses of homozygous embryos showed an absence of normal mRNA and protein expression, respectively. Because the antiserum used for the Western analysis was raised against the C-terminus, it is possible that a truncated protein was present in heterozygous mutants, though the authors believe that there is no gain-of-function. |
