Protein Coding Gene : Ang3 angiogenin, ribonuclease A family, member 3

Primary Identifier  MGI:1201793 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  14 NCBI Gene Number  11730
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0)

Enables RNA nuclease activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including activation of phospholipase A2 activity; activation of protein kinase B activity; and defense response to other organism. Predicted to be located in several cellular components, including actin cytoskeleton; basement membrane; and nucleolus. Predicted to be part of angiogenin-PRI complex. Predicted to be active in extracellular space. Is expressed in embryo and liver. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in diabetic retinopathy; myocardial infarction; neurodegenerative disease (multiple); and prostate cancer. Orthologous to human ANG (angiogenin).
specificity  Analysis of the sequence data for Ang3 indicates that the gene is found in the BALB/c strain but not in the C57BL/6J reference genome. The sequences from Ang3 from BALB/c align best, but imperfectly, to the Ang5 locus in the reference genome. Authors of 15196800 (PubMed) suggested that Ang3 is missing from the the assembly.
