molecularNote  Exons 1 through 3 were replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. The deleted region encoded histidine at postion 57 and aspartate 102 which are essential for catalytic activity. Transcript was undetected by Northern blot analysis of homozygous mutant mice. Neuropsin activity was undetected in immunoprecipitate from hippocampal homogenate obtained from homozygous mutant mice.
